Introducing the Evolution Institute: The World’s First Evolutionary Think Tank

A new think tank named The Evolution Institute (EI) is being created to formulate public policy from an evolutionary perspective. The institute will be co-directed by David Sloan Wilson and Jerry Lieberman, President of the Humanists of Florida Association (HFA).

Just as EvoS expands evolutionary theory beyond biology to include all human-related subjects in academia, the EI will apply evolutionary theory to a diversity of public policy issues. As a proof of concept, a workshop on early childhood education from an evolutionary perspective has already been organized and funded. Lieberman and Wilson are now organizing and raising funds for the think tank as a whole.

The EI will be an independent organization with two university affiliates; Binghamton University and the University of Miami. The BU association will enable the EI to be fully integrated with EvoS, including the newly created nationwide consortium of EvoS programs. The UM will provide an academic partnership for the HFA.  William Scott Green, UM’s Senior Vice Provost, strongly supports both the EI and the inclusion of UM in the EvoS consortium. He is generously co-hosting the first workshop with the HFA.

More information about the Evolution Institute is provided in the Prospectus (PDF). Please contact David Sloan Wilson if you wish to become involved.
