New Survey to Assess Attitudes and Knowledge About Evolution
The EvoS consortium is developing a new survey to assess attitudes and knowledge about evolution. One purpose of the survey is to assess our courses but it can also be taken more widely, becoming a National Evolution Literacy Test.
The survey is in the prototype stage and you can help to improve it.
This version (PDF) is organized into thematic categories so you can examine its contents.
This version shows how the survey actually looks when taken on the internet, with the non-background questions randomized. The first few questions ask one’s name and assigns two code numbers, which is important in a classroom setting for linking multiple surveys by the same person and for paying participants while maintaining their anonymity.
If you wish to actually take the survey, go here. This version is completely anonymous.
If you wish to give the survey to a class or other group of people, click here and you will be provided your own link. The data and a statistical summary will be e-mailed to you and we will keep a copy for our own database. You are welcome to suggest changes such as the addition or removal of questions. Finally, we can provide a copy of our approved human subject review application if you need to obtain approval from your own institutional review board.
If you wish to comment on the questionnaire, click here to type a message. Thanks very much for your feedback!
